Given that you can download at 3.5 or 7 megabits per second (in theory at least), how many sites are there on the web that can crank out that kind of bandwidth ? Ever tried downloading ISO images when the latest Redhat distro is released ? *PAINFUL*. We're not talking just the "last mile" here.

I think I have solved my problem with downloading .iso files using my download manager. I just went to the options as I thought and added .iso to the list of extentions shown. At least I think I have found a download manager which I feel downloads fairly fast, doesn't have too many settings to set and has a resume

I LOVE MY DISH. Just for comparison....I downloaded the iso for Red Hat 6.2. The download was divided into two parts using CuteFTP 2.x . Compared to real broadband choices downloading iso distributions via DirecPC is not a real good choice. From your results Fast@xs appears to be a much better choice.
